Seems like something that would "shatter" the breech block could also dammage the hammer and pins, and possibly even "stretch" the receiver a little. Although the large #1 (usually military) rolling block is the most common there are many other models (each with different breech blocks) which could make it hard to find the correct replacement. Keep in mind that replacing the breech block will require re-setting the headspace.
I would suggest contacting a gunsmith that specializes in this type of rifle. Try Lee Shaver Gunsmithing in Lamar Missouri (egunsmith.com) and if he doesn't do the work he can probably steer you to a source for the correct parts. Good luck...

The man loaded 2400 powder and the load was so hot it split the rolling block apart, half of it went over his head and took his hat off the pin is bent but was able to remove it from action , and Hammer it not damaged but will need new pin for safety sake , he had the action magna fluxed for cracks but it had none , The barrel is off and action is stripped , he has no PC so I'm trying to help him find parts , Lone star has them! Thanks Jim Kobe .My advise is for him to send the action & barrel to Lonestar !
