Does the Rem 788 have it’s own barrel or does it share with the Rem 700? Is there anything unique about rebarreling the 788? I’ve got one that bubba cut off and it’s just over 16 inches. I’m wanting to replace the 7mm-08 with a 358 Win in a 20 inch length. Shoot Safe, Mike NRA Endowment Member

No, it's proprietary. About the 8 or 9th post down: http://forums.accuratereloadin...043/m/8671075902/p/1 When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years! Rod Henrickson

Very simple rebarrel. About rebarreling a mouser not a 700. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

IIRC, the Savage 10/110 (non WSM) has the same 20 TPI and 60 degree thread. The Savage has a 1.05" shank and the Rem 788 was 1.0", Usually the Savage barrels will screw right on though and you can use the Savage barrel nut for headspacing.
