Lot of complaints in this area about Ford brakes rusting. My 2011 had the brakes shot at 17K mostly highway miles. The repair shop told me Ford brakes suck. I can't argue with that assessment. I'm looking at Toyota Tundras right now.

Well, I'm not much of a Ford fan and have owned a shop over 35yrs. I cannot agree that Ford has shitty brakes.

Ford brakes suck? My last Ford was a 2002 F250 Superduty 7.3 diesel long bed crew cab that I used to tow two large boats with. It had 102,000 miles on it when I sold it. Before putting it on the market to sell it took it to my local shop guy to have the brakes replaced just because I thought it would be a good idea. Shop called me up next day and told me the fronts still had 50% pads remaining and the rears were even better. My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

This is Pennsylvania not Texas. Our roads are constantly salted in the winter because of our hills. I bought a 2011 and two friends bought 2012s. All three had such bad rust in the brakes that rotors and pads were junk. If I remember correctly, it was about a $900 repair. All three were shot under 20K miles. Google Ford F150 brakes and you will find this is not an isolated complaint. The brakes in an F250 may be OK but not in the F150 based on my experience.

So they treat the roads different in PA than Alaska?

Young'un I'm flattered at 73 to be called that. All I have said is my personal experience as well as two other friends. The manager of a major national repair center told me there are lots of brake problems with current Fords. I am not sure how Alaska clears snow but here we are pretreating the road with chemicals then salting. Many complaints about the chemicals being tough on the finish. I don't give a rat's ass whether anyone agrees or disagrees and I would guess car makers just don't make them the way they used to or out source parts. This is my fourth Ford F150 and first with brake issues. I am not a Ford basher by any means but just relaying my experience.

There's adifference in rusting between living on the top of the mtn vs the moister valley also. Anyway I drive an F-150 ,plain Jane type. Test reorts are sometimes weird .Just saw a short video of the new Ford Raptor. One feature of the Raptor is the large letters F O R D on the grill. The letters on the newest one are even larger and therefore ugly ! Yet in the short video he mentions how much he likes the large letters on the grill - THREE times !!!

I don't know how the new ones are but I bought the wife a 2014 f150. It is nice but has more blind spots and is harder to see than my super duty. And I have the long bed and hers it the short, both just extended cabs. Around the city, she takes my truck and claims it is easier to drive. It think it is the extremely high rear suspension compared to the larger trucks. Probably should put a leveling kit on it. I haven't had a gm since 98 but no complaints on the z71 I had back then. Won't comment on the foreign ones since I am from Detroit and won't be caught dead in one. Don
