I drove a 2009 dodge laramie 1500 4X4 4 door yesterday. I was very impressed with the power, ride and how quiet the cabin was going down the hi way. Does anyone have one of these? Curious about how well they hold up. Resale on Dodges have never been as good as Ford or Chevy but I was impressed with this truck.
I have never owned a Chrysler product.

EEz,
My freinds brother has a 09 Dodge and he loves it. It has the Hemi and lots of power. My freind has a 04 Dodge and he loves it. I tell them there is no accounting for taste. Wink
While i am a chevy owner, they both ride nice and have very comfortable seating. I hope you enjoy the truck, hope you got a great deal.

Actually, I have not bought the truck. I have a old Chevy farm truck that I will probably keep forever.
I was looking for a new 4 door 4X4 that was nice on the inside, that would carry 4 adults comfortably and had a small bed.
My initial intentions was to buy a Chevy Avalanche; They are built on a Suburban chassis with rear coil springs rather than leafs and ride better than a truck.
I ws told the new Dodge had coil spring on the rear as well. they do and they do ride nice. The power in the Dodge hemi (390 HP) is a bit intoxicating; far more than the 5.3 GM motor.
You can get a 6.0 in thr new Chevy's but a loaded Avalanche is about $6K more than an equivilent Dodge 4 door truck compromibly equiped. The Dodge has about 3"-4" more rear seat leg room than the Avalanche.
I am just thinking of Dodge resale and cringe regardless of the new quailty. They are hard to move if you want to sell one unless it is a Cummins Diesel.
Trying to make a case for buying a Dodge!

I have a 97 Dodge 4 door but mine has the Cummins in it. I was always a Ford fan but couldn't see $10,000 difference in the price. I found the deal I wanted on e-bay and then started calling dealerships to get comparisons. I have gotten 21 mpg with mine and it is a work truck. Usually averages around 18.5 mpg. Thats pretty good for a 2500 diesel 4 door long bed. Mine is a 6 speed straight. Did have to have the power steering replaced; gear chipped and locked up the pump so all had to be replaced no charge. My brother in law has the Ford 250 Diesel and my father in law has the Chevy 2500 Diesel. I wouldn't trade mine for either, especially for the difference in cash. If you use it like I do (I'm a contractor) it wont be worth much when I am done with it anyway. I love everything about mine but the gearshift hits my coffee cup when I change gears the way the cup holder is designed. God Bless, Louis

I have a 2004 1500 Dodge 4x4 that I use as my everyday ranch truck. Traded a 2001 crew cab Ford in on it that kept eating front wheel bearings at $500 a pop and the dealer just said, "Oh well."

I am pretty tough on my ranch trucks but the Dodge has held up reasonably well. Only real thing I noticed different about it from the Fords was the level of sound proofing was quite a bit less in the Dodge. Easy to detect if you're driving on rock/gravel roads.

My other major complaint holds true of almost all trucks, put something on the dash, hit a few bumps and it's all over the floor. Someone could make a good business out of selling a "dam" for the dash and a good way to secure a frontseat truck rifle would be a close second.

PS: Also have a 2006 Dodge Mega-Cab with Cummins as my "Sunday Go to Meeting" truck and to haul the kids and family around in or a gooseneck when I need to. Not too many miles on it; it has been a good truck but needs a better AC system. I understand they've fixed that now, but don't know for sure.

I have an 06 HEMI that I will drive forever, I was going to buy a Cummins when I got this one but diesel was priced like gold. Buddy has an 09 HEMI it is a little more luxurious, with a few more bells and whistles. I put new tires on mine and it sits up higher, whick pissies him off a bit. They both are pretty good trucks

I bought the 2500-series 4 door, longbox, Cummins in the spring of 2004 as a mid-year upgrade to the 325 horse, 600ft/lbs of torque model. Laramie.

It has been trouble free, rides good, and it doesn't take "No" for an answer in any terrain.

Resale value on any of them is going to be the pits until the economy recovers and they stop giving the new ones away. I run mine til they die, and this one may outlive me.

I have a 2005 1500 hemi 4x4. I've only had one problem with it, when I shifted from reverse a bit too fast (I think), where I lost a trans solenoid (at about 55K miles). The dealer fixed it and only charged me for the fluids. Other than that, I had to change brake pads at 45K and the tires around 35K.

My truck has been to Colorado, Wyoming and all over the Sequoia National forest here in California.

If I had a complaint it would be that Dodge didn't make it compatible to operate with tires chains on the front tires. What kind of a 4x4 can't run with tires chains? I didn't discover this until I was getting ready for a Colorado hunting trip about 4 years ago. My wife's Ford SUV can use chains, but not my dodge truck. This one still has me scratching my head at times.

Other than that, I love it and have had some good time in it: One California mule deer, a black bear that my brother took, two bison (recently), several hogs. Probably 50 trips to the shooting range.

If you keep it long enough resale shouldn't play into it. If you are going to only have the truck for a couple years then I would factor it into my decision.

In 06 I was looking for a new truck. A friend had a GMC and my dad has a Dodge. I am a big Ford person. I drove them all not just on a short test drive. There is little difference between ride and power. I like some of the features on all of them and did not like some on all of them. I still like the Ford better but I would have been happy with any of them.

My brother recently bought a Toyota full size and that is very nice also.

I ended up buying a F150 lariat 4X4 super crew cab. I am very happy with my decision. It has great room inside and great seats and rides as nice as my wifes sts cadillac. Very quiet even at highway speeds.
I just wish it has HID headlights.

I owned several dodges and chevs
my 98 dodge tranny went out @ 110K miles-but I did work the crap out of it pulling horses.
traded it in ona 2002 V10 4X4--ran great but couldn't pass a gas station going down hill!--also the front brakes were a constant issue which never got resolved-----would smoke brakes and rotors in less than 20K miles Mad

Bought new 07 chev 4X4 loaded 1500-runs great best ride but my tranny needed a full rebuild @ 18K miles Mad warrenteed but still what a pisser-- it now has an electrical issue tht can't seem to be resolved as of yet-----two new batteries and verious sensors replaced

recently bought an old 86 dodge 250W 4X4 single cab 4speed manual. Runs like a top and will use it for snow plowing---this truck is a true truck and I can beat it to hell and it will still run! clap It cost me a mere $2,800.00 with new tires and low miles.

The problem I see is that the new trucks are built to be cars with a dinky bed-------they are not trucks, or best wussie trucks

my best advice is don't buy what I buy hilbily they seem to be pieces of shit coffee

Got a 2000 2500 4X4 with the Cummins diesel.

Screw Dodge.

Just went to dealer. Brake and ABS light come on at 45-50 mph.

One week later and $150 later for new speed sensor, picked it up. One mile down the road, same problem.
