Just bringing back good memories. Most of us had one back in the late 60's and 70's. Most people I talk to that had one wish they had one now. Do you have any good or bad memories of hodaka?

First cycle I owned- Pulled the lights etc and played in the dirt- It was a little small for a 6'1'200 lb rider but that big overlay sprocket they gave you for the rear worked in the dirt.

Man, I thought I was the only person in the world that had one...got it for Christmas in '74....used. Had some good times on it. Mine was a 100cc and was small framed compared to Hondas ect. Sometimes mud would get in the gear box and freeze overnight. You'd have to take the little cover off and break it up with a screwdriver to get it going again.

I restore them. right now I have 40. I sold all my newer bikes and all I ride is my hodakas

I remember my youngest brother getting a "Combat Wombat" about 1973.

I have no idea where my parents found mine....I also had no idea I was getting a bike, wasnt even on my radar....the only other one I ever saw was in a small shop in the town where I grew up and it was a Wombat. Mine had Allsport Steen on the gas tank.

Woo-Hoo.. Loved my combat wombat.. Hell yes I rished I had one now..

Really really wished I still had my Rickman 125 Zundap..

degoins.. IIRC. Steen took over Hodaka at the end, or maybe just got their parts inventory and marketed them till they ran out.. Not quite sure..

Oh man that's another one I started to mention. I'd never seen nor heard of one of those until a kid down the road from us got one the same year I got my Hodaka. His was a brand new 250. That thing had the most awesome power I've ever seen or heard of on a trail bike. He was afraid of though and never did ride it to it's full potential....or even close. I swear I beleive that thing could climb a tree.

I bought a Hodaka Wombat in 1974 when I was in high school. Had a blast with that bike for about 4 months until my mom found out I'd bought it. (I'd been hiding it at a friend's house) She was MAAAAAD as hell at me and made me sell it. She hated motorcycles and was sure I was gonna die on the thing. I've always missed that bike and if my wife didn't feel the same way as my mother did, I'd probably look for one to buy today.

just tell her you're buying a Harley, then negotiate down to what you would really like to have...

Besides, forgiveness is ten times easier to get than permission.

Zundapp...... Controls hinged at the end of the handlebar.......real old ones.

One man at Hughes rode a Zundapp during Ww II. A 750 cc .....on a submarine. That surprised this boy!

The one I always wanted was a CCM.
Saw one in a Motocross race in Germany in the 70s. All these ring-dings were trying to get up this muddy hill.

Then something that sounded like a John Deere 2 cylinder came thumping past.

neighbor kid had a small one with the springer type front. I fixed it for him all the time and got to ride it alot. Neat bikes. I had to work and buy my own bike, a YZ 125

Hodaka Ace 100,woohoo

My boys had a Hodaka Ace 100 in the early 70s.

There were some in Australia ,i always wanted one [and every other weird brand ]but growing up on a farm ,didnt have money for anything .I think they were made in Japan for Pabatco , had chrome tanks then went to painted tanks .There was a fellow Phil Young in NSW who had parts for them and Ossa .Never saw one ,only ads in newspapers and tests in old bike mags.No doubt all in the hands of collectors now, or buried 10 feet under in the local dump

P.S i had about 9 Bultacos

I had one back in the '60s. Great Fun!

lets see classic dirt bikes. In the day i had a 400 mako a 250 bultaco and a 250 ossa. Also had a 250 canam if that counts as classic.

Was that a Maico? I did have a Bultaco Pursang and A Parrilla[sp] 175. The Bull was a bad ass bike.
