This isn't what you asked for, but I thought it might be an interesting thing to throw in anyway...

In 1979 I bought a Toy 4x4, new. Haggled with the dealer a bit before accepting delivery...got him to throw in Porsche seats (installed) and a 35 gallon spare fuel tank. Put an insulated SteelStream brand camper shell with a carpet kit inside on it too.

Drove it 31 years and never ever had even one day it wouldn't take me to and from work, or hunting, or to the range, or anywhere else I wanted to go. Would be driving it yet if I had been able to tow both it and my car here from Oregon last year when we moved.

It had the old solid front axle suspension and was tough like titanium.

Hit and killed three deer over the years with it (lived in a deer preserve), and did have to replace one small plastic piece of grill when I hit one dead center in he middle of the front end at full on 55 MPH. Took a few seconds to repair...snap out the old piece, snap in the new. Nothing else damaged. The front bumper was a massive chunk of iron compared to today's geegaws.

Anyway, the Toy inline 4, either the 20R or 22R, should be shown in the dictionary next to "Reliable" as a picture definition of the word.

My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.
