Nice one! Appears to be near/in the Namib desert. The youngster seems a bit mature to be nursing but no doubt mama knows best.

Dave, your right, it was taken in the national park, Sossusvlei. Isn't Namibia a great place for photography? So far it's the most photogenic country I've ever visited.

And there are Kudu everywhere.

My wife and I visited Sossusvlei. We were amazed at the number of game animals we saw. Doesn't seem to be enough food or water for them yet the seem to thrive.

In this video I did at 0:26 there's a springbok with a background similar to the one in your first photo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4iJPvHOcFU

Edited to add, the dangerous game photos at the start of the video were taken by a nephew and his wife during a photo safari in South Africa, near Capetown I think. He kindly let me use them in the video.

We also went down into the canyon at Sessriem, I bet you did as well. If we make it back to Namibia soon we want to take a couple of extra weeks and spend the time at Etosha and the Skeleton Coast.

I was intrigued by your comment, "So far it's the most photogenic country I've ever visited." From posts you've made I get the impression you've traveled extensively. We haven't traveled nearly as much as we'd like and hope to do more over the next few years.

My wife's ancestors were from France so we plan to go there someday, also I want to see the war memorial at Vimy Ridge. My grandfather was wounded there in June 1917, fighting with 15 Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force.

Namibia truly is a wonderful country. The times we were there I was focused pretty much on hunting, next time I want to spend more time sightseeing. They have some amazing birds there I want to photograph as well.

Wink: Lovel. Thanks for reminding me why a return to Namibia is on my bucket list ...
