The only thing those two places have in common is water. But that is enough. tu2

Have a great trip!

I enjoy reading.

And coming here I get a good opportunity to do it.

I am normally up at 4.

The view from our place overlooking the fjord is fantastic.

I make me a coffee, and sit by the heater and read for a couple of hours until everyone is up.

Just finished a book on Bering.

And his journey of discovery new lands.

Started reading a book on Barents.

Fascinating how they navigated in those days!

We have many out lying islands to which go to for a BBQ!

And walking in the forest is great too.

Had a bit of rain yesterday so not much walking, except a short walk of about 6 kilometers with Hessa and her dog Alaska.

Day before did about 18 kilometers.

Cloudy today and a bit of a drizzle today and hopefully will clear up later.

People around here are all Vikings.

And some have not advanced into the 21st century yet!

Couldn’t have wished for a better place to have a break and relax! clap

Saeed, didn't you stay here before? The aerials of that inlet look familiar. When I see all that water, all I can think of is fishing.
Alaska is a gorgeous dog.

Bill,

This is Northern Sweden.

We have a house here.

Small village, almost like time had forgotten!

Wonderful people.

But then again, wherever we lived, we had wonderful neighbors and those we meet are always great.

And become lifelong friends.

Just as I found living in Texas.

Finland is right across the water.

Weather is a bit funny.

Warm when the sun is up.

Freezing cold when cloudy.

One of our neighbors does fish.

This morning I was talking with him after he came back with his nets on his jetty.

I have pictures I will post later.

The water freezes over by our house in the winter.

And those who have houses on the outlying islands leave them for the winter.

The Swedes call these summer houses.

Ours is on the mainland, so year long occupation is fine.

You might remember Anders and his son Victor, they went hunting with us year before last.

Anders and Nils are joining us on safari this year.

We have retired friends from Dubai who also have homes here.

I will continue to post pictures as long as I am here.

Saeed, that would explain it. Those yellow perch are among my favorites fileted and fried in seasoned Panko, with corn and potato salad. Great fun to catch on a very light rod. Even better are crappie filets. Don't know if they have crappies in northern Europe.

Walking in the forest shows that blueberries are a bit late this year.

Apparently for lack of rain.

So are chanterelles.

Saw quit a few, but still too small to pick.

The various seagulls seem to know when Leif is ready to provide them with food.

As he is cleaning his nets, they gather just a few yards from the jetty.

I went and had a chat with him while he is doing this.

Some fish, apparently very bony, they don’t eat and give to the seagulls, together with the entrails of the ones he keeps.

They make a racket coming to feed, and not seem to be bothered by the drone a few feet away!

Alaska is the white one.

Nova is a veteran moose hunter.

The biltong is reindeer meat.

Not sure.

Probably wood.

Many people here have floating saunas.

The make a floating platform and put a sauna on it.

The kids use it in the summer as a launching platform for water sports like skiing and wake boarding.

No idea how they do it, as the water is very cold - one time I remember it was 7 degrees C.

I was driving the boat, and only my feet were getting wet and frozen!

To the amusement of everyone else!

This sauna was for the people living at the lighthouse you see in the photo.

Apparently every now and then some very hardy individuals like to stay on the islands all winter!!

But the houses on the islands are generally used as summer residences only.

Had a wonderful dinner at my friend Anders house.

Moose and reindeer steak.

If you look carefully on the above picture, you can see me on the rocks, and Hessa and Alaska slightly behind.

Yesterday was freezing!

And very windy, about 65 kilometers an hour.

Late afternoon it all died off.

Total calm, ready for bed, it still daylight!!??

We have about 20 hours of sun here!

Can’t remember what it is in winter.

Probably no more than a 2-3.

Moose are found on those islands.

Some deer are on the mainland.

Sometimes people see moose crossing from one island to another.

We had a bit of shooting.

And the local annual festival.

A friend from a neighboring village came to visit in his wooden boat, which he had built himself.

Alaska is loving her visit to Sweden.

Originally from Switzerland, where we got her.

The girls decided to bring her along, and she absolutely loves it.

She loves going on boat trips.

Yesterday she she went out twice, to two different islands.

And enjoyed playing around with Nova.

Who is a moose hunting dog.

Any chance you could post each days pictures as a separate thread. Not sure I am going to live long enough for some to open on my system.

Is the aqua culture pen just for an individuals use?

Not knowing the area the major industry in the background of the one picture seems a surprise!

Looks to be a GREAT place to visit each year (IN SUMMER)!

That will be difficult.

I gather pictures from several days and process them and up them.

If you have a slow connection, leave the page open and all pictures will be visible after a bit.
