Just returned yesterday from the One Shot Antelope hunt in Lander, WY. This is the fifth straight year that I've attended, starting as a team shooter in 2011 and a past shooter since then. With each visit to Lander, I spend some time in nearby Sink's Canyon. Each time my visit seems more picturesque than the previous visits. I don't take my usual photo gear and instead take a little camera that I've become quite fond of, a Nikon Coolpix P7100. It provides a great savings in weight and bulk without giving up much, if anything, in quality. I shot a few pix in the canyon and thought I'd share some of them with you.

I grew up there, my father was the under-sheriff of Fremont County in the 1980's under Tim McKinney. It is a wonderful place. Lander has had a hand in it's own liberal death for quite a while.

All the non-hunting outdoor magazine scribes consider it to be the Shan Gra La of outdoor places to live. Outside and Backpacker have regularly adorned it with Best Small Town in America.

It has made Lander the by-product of encroachment by leftist wierdos for a long time. My father used to guide the One Shot, he hasn't done it in about 35 years but it was a pretty good time.

The shots of the flowing water are pretty crisp for what I guess are hand-held with a slow shutter speed. Good shooting technique.

Wink,

Many thanks, particularly coming from you and your expertise. And,they were handheld at a slow shutter speed. Also, I've been more than satisfied with the performance of the little Coolpix P7100. When size and weight are important considerations, I usually leave my D100 and D7000 and all their gear at home and take the P7100
