As usual great pictures. Saeed most pictures of you, you are fooling with some kind of device, is that a drone controller? Also do you have your own hot air balloon?

I don’t like hot air balloons!

They have plenty of them flying there and they get trucked back because of the wind.

Yes, that is a drone remote.

The highlight of each trip is the pictures and videos which everyone gets a copy off.

I take several cameras and give to people to take pictures.

What you see here is a very small fraction of what we take.

I had my own paramotor over 40 years ago.

Great images and great fun, Saeed. Amazing.

I recognize the camel herder and several of his charges. Big Grin

Far from clueless, more like 100% who cares fun!

Thanks for sharing.

We are right now buried in snow and ice, so we do enjoy these warm images. tu2

Funny thing is these people are from all walks of life!

They say it is a great way to start your weekend.

Breakfast in the desert, where one can let his and her down and and have a couldn't careless attitude.

We are normally home by ten at the latest.

Want to know where the fun is, where the fun loving folks are?

Find Saeed and you are there!

How hard is it for the herdsman to get his camels gathered and willing to leave after they get carrot treats fro the crew.

Here goes another accuser!

Everyone says I only take people out just to laugh at them! sofa

All I do is invite them to breakfast in the desert.

I think they all wake up too early and leave their brains in bed! clap

I will add more photos.

Had a bit of fun the other day.

A few paramotors flying.

Then I get a phone call from one on the ground asking if I could see one of them, who has not come back.

I was about a mile away from where they were and on a big sand dune.

Couldn’t see see anything with my eyes, so flew the drone to look.

Sure enough, found the guy on the ground further in the desert.

Inform his friends.

Laughter all around, and screaming “HE RAN OUT OF GAS!”

Yes, he did.

So off we went to deliver some gas to him.

One of the instructors wanted to fly out off the dunes.

And as he was getting ready to go, he said “don’t drive too fast. I will try landing on your Landcruiser as you drive out”

We all laughed.

Got the drone up, and as he took off I started driving.

Sure enough, he got behind me, and was going to try landing on my car.

I hit the gas.

My passengers started screaming!

SLOW DOWN! SLOW DOWN!

Was a bit difficult as I was trying to stay ahead of him, driving on the sand dunes, and flying the drone at the same time.

Apparently it was a bit scary.

To my passengers.

I thought it was fun! clap

Love it! Two questions: Why are some of the adult camels hobbled and others are not? Secondly, since I don't smoke or do recreational drugs, what is in the pipe and bottle? Big Grin

Time to educate you foreign lot on camels.

Those hobbled are mothers with babies. To slow them down.

Also, that rope they use to hobble the camel, the old Beduins used to tie it over their head when not in use.

This what we call the EQAL.

It has become a sort of fashion bit.

It is the black thing Arabs wear on their heads on top of the white GHITRA.

See, you are all well educated now! clap

Dogs and camels have no problems being together.

The pipe is our locally made pipe.

They use home grown tobacco in it to smoke.

In the old days the pipe makers use spent 303 British brass to make a lining in the open end where the tobacco us put to protect the wood from burning.

They also use brass around the bit you put in your mouth!

I like foreigners!

They provide a lot of entertainment for us!

Saeed,

It looks to me like most of the pictures of this desert you so kindly put up for us it tends tobe calm(not windy). The dunes would seem to belie that. It has to take strong winds to raise them and mostly the dunes are not covered with tracks indicating it at least blows some in between your visits.

Is the early morning timing of your trips why this happens or are the winds largely a seasonal aspect of the desert?

The desert is not very friendly in high wind.

We go there very early in the mornings, I am there before sun up.

Others come as the sun comes out.

During the day, on some days, it gets very windy and not very friendly.

So, that would mean that when you get off the highway to enter the desert road(s) that's when you drop your tire pressure because you may or may not find that the sand has closed portions to normal vehicular travel until it gets cleared out?

I keep my Landcruiser's tires at 20 PSI all the time.

This is good for both road driving and desert driving where we go.

If I intend to go further, deeper, into the desert where I might encounter softer sand I drop the pressure down to 12 PSI.

I have a built in compressor in mine.

If I do drop the pressure down to 12 psi, I do top it up before driving on the roads.

This area is very popular with desert drivers who like to go dune bashing.

We see many gatherings every week.

They do make a sort of song and dance about it - it is an adventure for them.

They get off the road, and gather around in groups, getting their tire pressures down, being given lectures on how to drive by the experienced ones.

Once they have had their drive, they do stop off road and put more air in their tires.

The area we go to is relatively easy.

Almost a straight road from my house for about 45 kilometers, then a dirt road for a few kilometers then roughly a mile or so to the dunes.

Even people with no 4 wheel cars come there on the dirt road and we pick them up to go to the dunes.

I carry equipment in my car that gets me out of any trouble in the sand.

I have tracks to put under the tires, I have a balloon that inflates by the exhaust to raise the car up to facilitate this and I have a winch.

Very valuable, and essential, equipment to have for the desert.

I have no idea how many times I had to pull people out.

Always entertaining with those foreigners!

Not so unlike here in Minnesota where we pack similar equipment for six months of the year to deal with the snow. We have longer distance to travel for almost everything I suppose and the highways more or less mandate 70 MPH speeds so 20 PSI won't do for that, but it can help get you out of the ditch when you slide in. We generally carry carpet samples, but some carry plastic tracks made for the purpose. We do carry sand around with us though, in fact they sell it in most general hardware type stores.

You lot are just jealous!

I am a certified MR NICE GUY!

When I joined the Houston Gun Club, they gave me a name tag for free.

When I asked if I could have another one, I was told I can have as many as I wished, the cost was $3.5.

So I asked for one that had MR. NICE GUY.

I wore it on big shoots, and it was wonderful everyone new I met recognized me by saying my new name! rotflmo
