Juan, Dogs are like children that give unconditional love. But God only gives them to us for a short time so we can learn to love and lose those we love with grace. Be happy you were entrusted with him for a while. Rick (Cats are a different story )

Juan, When I was six, my dad brought home two pups that he had rescued out of an incinerator, after he kicked the guys ass that put them in there. We named them Cinder and Smutty. I had Cinder for 13 years. I grew up running the woods and creeks with that dog. He would tree squirrels, run rabbits. He would follow me to school in the morning and be there waiting when I got out. Loved that dog. One day when I was 19 I was coming home and saw a small black dog laying dead on the side of the road about a 1/4 mile from the house. I can still remember thinking I was glad it wasn't my dog. Only it was. Just about broke my heart. Part of me went with that pooch. Almost 40 years ago now but I still remember. Sad to hear of your loss. My condolences. GWB

My deepest sympathy. Your words helped when I lost Elroy a few weeks ago. I still expect to see him when I come home at night or when I walk near his favorite spot. I read somewhere that the worst compliment we can give a dog is to say he is almost human. They live their lives and treat their masters in a unique way that makes us hold them close to us. I'm sorry for your loss. Nick10Ring

Remember the good times...they're priceless and irreplaceable. And when the time comes, remember the advice given above....puppy breath! I'm sorry for the loss of your friend and hunting buddy. Whenever I see a post like this my heart breaks just a bit. But, the partial remedy has already been stated. Get another dog! No, it will not "replace" the one you "lost", there will always be a special place for that dog, but the new dog will restore your faith in life, and make it worth living again. Each dog is unique and cannot be replaced, but life must be lived, and "the plan" worked out. Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;
