I have been keeping my son's GSP for him, as he had to relocate for a new job & is living in a rental that won't allow pets.

Neither he nor I have the room to maintain and exercise the dog, so I thought I would see if someone could give him a good home.

Bailey is 10 years old and in excellent health. He was obtained from a retired vet who breeds GSPs and Brittanys.

He was professionally field-trained in south Georgia but unfortunately has not been actively worked in several years--

If you are interested, please send me a PM & I'll exchange phone numbers with you and give a full run-down on Bailey's history and the circumstances that force us to part with him.

Would prefer to work with someone in Georgia or the neighboring states, if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Looks like a splendid dog that should be a fine hunter. Somebody needs to help him out.

Not to sound sarcastic, but why don't you take Bailey hunting? Who knows you might like it,
I know Bailey would and he wouldn't forget anything about birds, it's instinct that rules.

My son & I took Bailey hunting a couple of years ago, on a local quail plantation, and he was not finding birds like he should. While he was trained by an expert in South Georgia, he just was not worked the way he should have been--my son's emerging law practice took a lot of time, and discretionary income for hunting trips was sparse.

I don't hunt him because, frankly, I can't afford it. Quail hunting in GA is virtually all on planations with put-and-take birds, and even the least expensive are several hundred dollars for a half-day.

We do go on long walks so he can point at deer and rabbits. At home he will hit a solid point on my flock of five chickens.

Our place is just too small, and I am just too old, to give Bailey the sort of life he deserves in his few remaining years.

Let me retract my earlier post, I had a GSP here for training and Leroy couldn't care less for birds, he'd go up to the bird box and piss on it, The birds didn't mean a thing to Leroy,
It turned out that Leroy was out of show breeding and they don't get any better looking than Leroy but he was useless as a hunting dog.
Good luck.

For all of you who posted, and those who sent PMs, my thanks.

Bailey was adopted this past week by a very nice couple in the Florida panhandle. I know he will be cared for and loved for the rest of his days.

Transferring him to his new owners was not as bad as having a dog die, but almost.
