The wife finally caved and a new pup came home with me and my kids a month ago. We got a English Cocker from Prairie Fire Kennels and have been extremely pleased so far with the kennel and breed. The pup has been out several times now and shows a good nose and great instincts. Does anyone have any experiences with English Cockers? Send me a private email and I think I can give you some direction. I have a friend whose Cocker is in contention for placement in the Nationals for Cockers this past weekend. I haven't talked to him so I don't know the results. Ben Martin was showing him so this is a "high results" dog. There is a fairly close marriage between Cockers and English Springer Spaniels (and their trainers/handlers)in competition. Some folks have worked both breeds. I'm a Springer fan but I've heard good things about the breed your working with. The flushing breeds are underrated and mostly misunderstood. I love the flushing dogs. I like dogs that work close. I just returned from South Dakota with a couple of Brittanies and they're just fine, but my heart resides with flushers.

Hey come on Man, we don't get the consideration of even a single picture? Look I know we've disagreed in the past but for Pete's sake! Were I Lower 48 resident I'd seriously like to operate something like a Cocker.

I have owned two English Cockers and my brother one. We did not train them to be hunting dogs, although my second had great instincts and a good nose and probably would have been a good hunting dog. I think they are the best dog for a family with children. All of our dogs were from breeders in France, my brother took his back to California after we selected it here. The English Cockers raised in France have great dispositions. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

I have shot 4 Roosters over her now and seems to have extremely good nose and instincts. ddj The best part of hunting and fishing was the thinking about going and the talking about it after you got back - Robert Ruark
