I just got back from the local funeral home. They are also a pet crematorium. Tonight my 14yr. old Elroy passed away with my wife and myself at his side. He was not eating very much for the past few days and his back and arthritis was really taking its toll. To the end he still has a sparkle in his eye and was the faithful friend he always was. We'll never get over losing him. One small consolation is we have Bella, our 3 yr. old Border Collie.
It broke my heart to see Bella near him wondering why he was not responding. Then she was searching the house for him. I quess I'm very grateful for the time I had with him because he was the greatest dog.

Hi Nick,

I'm sorry for your loss! It's good, though, that Bella was present at the end. She'll not look for him nearly as much as she would've had she been elsewhere when he passed.

Good hunting,

Andy

Rest easy Nick, Elroy is simply taking the point on the next great adventure. I'm sure he will be looking for you every day, until once again the two of you are together.

Nick,

Most sincere condolences for the loss of Elroy. Hard to lose a member of the family.

Will take a while, but Bella will help.

He may be gone, but he is NOT forgotten, and you WILL meet again. My condolences. I know what you are going through.

We had two dogs (both now long, long gone) which did this very same thing. Makes you wonder if they don't have a wee bit of intelligence, no matter what some people say...

I too feel for you brother, I have a dog that I almost am afraid to hunt, I can't stand the thought of him getting injured or worse.

It's the hardest thing in the world, IMO, to lose a dog. We get them as a pup, live life with them, knowing all along that one day they will have to leave us.

Tears me up even today...and my dog is but a year old.

Regards,

Robert
