Last december on a big State driven hunt S. of Pirmasens, right on the border between France and Germany, I came to talk to John Jeanneney, a Gentleman from the US. It turned out he had some 40 years ago purchased a wire-haired Dachshund in Germany and started to introduce blood-tracking in his home state New York. Since blood tracking with dogs is not completely legal in many places of the US, he even achieved to change legislation cooperating on some research projects. Since John is a university teacher of history, now retired as I understand, he wrote a book on the issue of blood tracking in the US, merging our sometimes too stiff European traditions with the more practical and open minded ways of the New World. His logical and scientific approach to the issues of both dog traiining and practical blood tracking is very thorough and still easy to understand and to put into practice. It is also interesting to learn about the different ways use dogs for tracking in the different areas of the US. Very, very recommendable reading, very entertaining, too, and no, I just like the book and have no economical interest whatsoever in it. Born-to-Track. | ||
