hi all

i lost my golden last spring, and since i never was any good with only one dog(they wear out to soon) i have been looking for the new family member for the better part of a year. the reason for the long wait was that i wanted to try a new breed as a hunting dog.

the alaskan malamute.

the litter was born (06/01-08), and it went 2 males and 3 females.
i got first choise of the males.they are now 3 ½ weeks old

first pic of the pups.

(yes i know hairy little rats at this point.)

the training will start in 1 ½ weeks.

and i get to take him home in 4 ½ weeks(danish law)

so i will try to do a photo shoot about the training while that goes on and then the usual spamming of your bandwith with photos of the fun in general.

2 weeks:

i will be either this one:

or this one:

shit time slows down when you have to wait for something good.

here are pics of the parents.

the father: Moon Song's Mahogany Kazan

and the mother: Moon Song's Darkblue Misty

puppies 2 weeks old

3 weeks

feeding time

up and exploring the world

What do you intend to hunt with a Alasken Malamute?
Have you thought or done research about other European Versatile Dogs in Europe such as Denmark, Czech Republik, Deutschland, Austria and perhap's Italia?

hi norseman

i intend to hunt fur, this one is gonna be my swiesshound, where the work is after the shot going on blood trails.
i have been training working dogs for the better part of 20+ years. the malamute is a new challenge. a friend of mine in norway is useing 2 of his, for blood work and they are doing a great job.
this dog is not for everyone, and certently not for the beginner. but if you are up to the task and have the time, then you can get a real great hunting buddy.

i have a real good GSP that i work as well, but i am a 2 dog guy. and my golden died last spring, i have been waiting for a pup from these parents ever since.

best regards

peter

Perhap's you should look into a Deutsch Drahthaar, Deutsch Stichelhaar or a Deutsch Kurzhaar out of Germany being that they are bred to bloodtrack as well as hunt fur off lead or on lead.

hi norseman

if you read my answer i allready have a GSP which is the deutch kurzhaar.(german shorthair pointer)

i bored senceless with most of the normal working breeds, and want something more interesting for a change, hence the alaskan malamute wich will serve a dual pourpose as i enjoy skijoering as well.

in denmark a lot of us have steered clear of the drahthaar from northern germany because of the temper involved.

regards

peter

Peter,

Does your GSP have F.C.I. paperwerks? or better yet has your GSP passed VJP, HZP and VGP Testing?

yes he has f.c.i. paperwork his father is fuglsigs eno, several times worldchampion pointing dog. sako is in the elite class in the pointing competions, and he has his sweisscertificate.

so yes he is as good as they come.
here he is. working like he should

i see from your former posts that you are fond of the german breeds, so am i, i just find them boring in the training department, and showing signs of to much linebreeding in some of the popular lines in germany.

the malamute is a choise, since i need a chalange and i think it will be it. look in the alaskan hunting deparment where i written a bit of the expirence i had with malamutes as hunting dogs.

hi all

niicky and i was at the kennel today, this is getting to be better and better.

the boys greeted me by having a tug of war with my boot.

then we went inside, where i snuck me to a picture of niicky, she was long gone in puppy heaven.

then i sat and did some tests(stupid excuse for playing with puppies)

and frodo desided to maul me, he is so big now.

as of today fargo is leading the race, but frodo is very close.
