I took the plunge and got another Beagle 4 Months ago. I already have 1 that is 13 years old that looks at me like what the HELL WERE YOU THINKING? Both male and the older one Grover is fixed, The new one will be cut also. Ive kept the new one OSCAR close to home to develope a bit of eddicate? He has not seen much in life so far so every trip to town or whatever I do with him is a new adventure for him. Call me a fool But I can relate to this breed. He is going to be a good one also. How does cutting them change their personality and drive to hunt? Is that perceivable? I have a jagdterrier with all components still in place, he's 4 years but still a little too much steam for my taste...

Your not a fool at all. Beagles are great dogs, we lost ours a couple of years ago and are about ready to get another.

I have never owned a Yak. I have owned several bear dogs that were cut. The obvious physical advantage is no more sore scrotum for running in the brush. Most were cut as an attempt to curb a tendency to fight with other male dogs. IMO it was a good thing. It removed that sex drive, gotta screw it or whip it attitude. All that remained was the desire to catch game and of course eat. If you would, it made them have an old dogs attitude toward life and maintained the physical drive and vigor of youth.

Thanks for your interesting remark. I do somehow like the DJT's attitude, "screw it or whip it" as you say. Sometimes, especially on driven hunts when meeting other dogs or when the children take him for a walk it's just too much...
