I'm curious, why did you decide on a Jack Russell as a blood tracker dag? You do know that they are turbo-charged, high energy dogs, right? Aim for the exit hole

I have also heard they are quite hyper also. The two I have love to chase squirrels and tree them quite often at the farm and here at home in the back yard. Other than that they are quite calm and happy sitting on the couch or in my lap while I'm in my recliner. They are litter mates and seven years old. Keep yer powder dry and yer knife sharp.

I have hunted many places with guides and PH’s using Jacks. We have one that loves going after Mountain Lions and sometimes black bears. I have seen them track the big cats of Africa as well as buffalo and other big game. Very tenacious on track but just a great couch dog also. Want to use mainly in the bush country in Texas for deer and hogs. Mostly bow hunting so concern not to loose game. Also don’t eat much HAHA Talked to a guy just bred some so 63 Days plus 6 to 7 weeks should have one.

It'll be interesting to hear how he comes along. In OK, I was watching the stock boys try to load a 2000# bull in a cattle hauler. He just wasn't having none of it and had most of the guys on the top rail. He was a bad bull. A fellow rode up with a Jack Russell and asked could he try. Long story short, that pup ate that bull up. He would nip one heel and when the bull kicked, he'd bite the other heel. And so forth. That bull couldn't wait to get in that hauler. Aim for the exit hole

If your contact doesn't work out I have a neighbor that has 4 different lines of JRs & usually has pups available. They are very well known here in North Tx.

Colleen Reeder in Flagstaff has both field and show JRT. She is the wife of Gary Reeder from Reeder Custom Guns. They own the Pistol Parlor in Flagstaff,AZ. If I needed a JRT for blood work I would check with her.

Have you looked at the German Jagdterriers? I currently have two Jagdts and one Drahthaar. The youngest Jagdt is sleeping at my feet as I type. I use them on the trapline, calling, blood trailing, and bear if we kick one up. The Jagdts are not for everyone but for a small versatile dog there are really something else. They do NOT come with a reverse...
