Hi folks I am just shopping for fencing for our little Jack Russel. She sees a critter and she is gone like the wind. I see all kinds and I need some advice on a decent one. I see some collars need special expensive batteries but if they last not bad. I have 8 acres but only want to do about 1 with room to expand if need be later.I am looking for opinions a decent unit. Thanks Steve

Maybe your situation is different from mine but my problem was that while it should keep my dogs in it would do nothing to keep others out.

Oh yes, Jack Russels, similar breed like Jagdterries, no surrender, no prisoners taken attitude...

I have no experience with these miracle fences but from what I experienced with my terrier, I doubt that it would stop one of these toothed tennis balls roaring through in deep flight behind a cat. It might make them even angrier, though, too bad for that cat, hahahah!

I would rather try a regular, long leash...

I haven't found a good one,, of course my dog is an Irish Setter. He sees them as a momentary irritation as he gets to full speed and runs straight through them. It might work better for smaller breeds, but I have had no luck with mine.

Thanks fellas thats what we where thinking also, she is so quick she would probably blow right thru with a minor inconvenience. Duk you are surely speaking the truth there. Little dog, big on attitude. But we love them, never a dull moment. We have seen a lot bigger dogs respect her in a hurry lol. Boon

I have 10 acres in invisible fence. I have 4 dogs, rhodesian ridgebacks and a black lab, none of them have ever left the property. It works for me. You have to train the dogs on the fence when you get them and keep the batteries fresh.

I have used my PetSafe wireless system for about 5 years with 100% satisfaction. Had to go to the stuborn dog collar. I really like the ability to regulate the size of the containment area, and the ability to adjust the strengh of the jolt the pet receives if it gets too close to the boundary. The battery the system uses are not cheap i buy them on line. The collar also has a flashing light to indicate low battery strength.

I have an invisible fence on 4 acres. I have dogs ranging from beagles to labs and never had a problem with a dog running through. If your dog is a extra stubborn they make a leather collar with 4 prongs (I call it the Hannibal Lecter) collar. It will tame down the toughest dog.

I have a 3 1/2 yr. old Border Collie. It was the best investment I made. She can run like anything and I can let her outside without worrying about her running off after something.
