Butch, There's a genetic predisposition for them to go deaf, but not a good correlation to wearing flea collars... Any idea what brand they were using? MAJ Jarod Hanson, DVM Veterinary Corps. United States Army

My schnauzer suddenly lost most of his hearing at age 12. Vet says it is common when dogs get old. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

My seven year old springer does not and has not wore a flea collar. He has been treated with Frontline. He's darn near deaf. My wife says it's selective deafness. I say it's almost complete deafness. I love Springers but the breeding can sometime be a problem.
