Dogs to Canada
Does anyone know of a problem, or paperwork needed, to take a dog to Canada for about a week, and return?

Thanks.

This is dated but when I took my dogs to Saskatchewan for waterfowl you had to have certificate for shots etc from Vet. I don't recall them being actually checked but it was the rule.

I've taken my bird dogs to Saskatchewan several times for bird hunting. Just get a recent health certificate from your vet - although they have never asked to see it or the dogs.

They are heavily focused on your guns and associated paperwork.

This goes much easier if you are polite and compliant. Remember, they don't HAVE to let you in...

Recent health certificate from vet, but main issue they are interested in is valid rabies certificate.

I have never had an issue going either way. Have been asked but never required to produce it.

seems the rules have changed for us now going to alaska the certificate vet has to be 30 days and less plus rabies proof of vaccination, not a problem for the vaccination but getting a vet certificate of less than 30 days when getting an appointement is at least 4 months for now so seems no alaska this year and we re not going without the dog.

Phil I can see how that requirement would be a pain in the ass. Surprises me a bit as you'd think Alaska would know that there just are not that many vets in the north and getting things done in a timely fashion is difficult.

Even where we live now in NE BC we only have a part time vet that comes from Alberta every couple of months for a few days, and another that has a clinic but limited services and won't do emergencies. Closest full time vets are a couple hundred miles away in Fort St. John.
