I was going though some of the family's old photos today and came across this pic of Dad and the family dog in Iowa. This was taken around 1926 south of Des Moines. I couldn't believe I was looking at a GSP. No wonder i love them so much, they've been in the family a very long time. Texas Verminator Verminator Predator Calls Pro Staff

That has to be one of the very early GSP in this country. My book says there were many and Charles Thorton started establishing the breed in the US 1925. First AKC registered GSP was 1930. Cool picture

The dog was definelty an early GSP. Another photo I found clearly showed the bobbed tail, ticking, liver spots and unmistakable GSP head. I don't know how they got the dog. Everyone from that erra has now passed. Just a real neat photo. Texas Verminator Verminator Predator Calls Pro Staff
