Just found two about the diameter of quarters on the left flank of my Brittany. They seem to be just under the skin, but I am not sure. Are these likely to be relatively harmless fatty tumors or is my 8-year-old guy in deep trouble? Appreciate any thoughts. By the way, he is still as full of prunes as he was when a pup -- no loss of energy.

Get them checked it's the only real way to know. I have Gordon Setters and my one female had so many sebacious cysts that we finally had them all taken care of at once. She looked like Frankendog. All better in about week to 10 days. But a few have re-started.

My old dog Bo has had several such tumors. Early on they were all fatty tumors. Last November one of them was sent in and it was cancer. He's had three cancer tumors removed this year. The cancer hasn't invaded his internals, yet. He's a 13 year old Rott/Husky cross and still gets along real well. Hopefully old age will get him first.
