I also have one I use for tracking wounded game. He is my best buddy and hardly hunt without him. A guy once described a Jack Russel beautifully. He said: Its amazing that they can fit such a big heart into such a small body... Speaks for itself! JRT's are the most fearless breed out there for their size. Just think if they could do that in a Rottweiler size... Rich

Rich, I am not sure if you are aware of a breed called the Jagdterrier .... this one is apparently even worse. Some guys here may even comment on it ... I have just read about it. Many years ago when I was still a child we had a Polish guy in town, he was the shoemaker, and he had 3 long-legged Fox Terriers, and they were also a site to behold. Since then I have never seen Fox Terriers like this. Perhaps they were from a certain strain. The Jack Russell is indeed a cocky breed. My one son has one and he already attacked a Rotweiler when he got a chance to escape through the gate that was left open. Luckily the commotion was heard and he was brought to safety. Warrior.

Yeah, thats just the problem. Unfortunately they take on fights that are out of their weight category. No Warrior, they are not "worse" but at least as good as the JRT. A complete, all-purpose hunting machine in a very small package. Also very good to have around children.

Our neighbor's have three JRT....they have been bitten on two different occassions by copperheads.......they find the snakes and corner them..........pound for pound they are tough little dogs.

Jane and I are owned by three Jack Russell Terrorists. I can't imagine life without our little devils... MHC: I understand entirely about your neighbor's JRTs fighting copperheads. Ours have done the same thing...just with coral snakes! Thankfully none of them have been bitten yet. The first time it happened and I realized what they'd been about, I asked them, "OK, which of you are dead and don't know it yet?" Thankfully, the answer was none... They're not for everybody or every situation, but I doubt I'll ever be without at least one JRT in my life. They can teach us all a thing or two about living life "full on"! Having hunted with Jacks and Jagdterriers I can tell you the jagd is a better hunter of big game by far, better nose. They are used on bear, boar, mt lion by hunters. My last Jagd lived to 18 years and still hunted at 17

I have two JRTs and they are quite something. Little Bill will tackle anything. Up in Pinetop where we live, he treed a black bear that came into the yard one night.... "When you play, play hard; when you work, don't play at all." Theodore Roosevelt

How do JRT's get along with other dogs. I have a couple mild-manner birddogs (actually they don't have much in the way of manners?). One is a Brittany and one is a Springer. I don't want to introduce a scrapper into the relationship.

jagdterriers are by far worse than JRTs. Many end up dead when they try to eat cars, trains etc..... fat chicks inc.
