This week I adopted a 6yo male from a couple who are getting a divorce and I feel like it's Christmas in July.
He's a keeper for sure.

Congrats, I got my GSP back in March and he is 6 months now. You got lucky and were able to skip over the puppy phase, their energy never runs out!

I'll agree with that...... they're bloody hard work until they hit about 2 years old when they grow up and then they're a delight!

Thanks for the replies and Steve, I'll try to get my Son to post some pics.
We went to the river(Au Sable) to let the dogs swim and run around some and both(my Son has a 2.5yo male GSP) were making water retrieves (sticks)
Can't wait until bird season. Took mine to the vet for a check up and he tested negative for ALL parasites including heart worms. That was a relief to say the least.
Dog adoptions don't always work out for one reason or another but this one is looking very positive.

Thanks for the kind offer. My Daughter will be here tomorrow, maybe then.
I don't get along too well with today's electronic gadgets.
Back to Buddy for a minute, he hunts, he's obedience trained, sit, shake, etc. and no bad habits have shown up yet. I am a very Happy Camper. He's pointed 2 rabbits so far, something i'm not too pleased with but from what I understand the Germans bred them as meat dogs and not necessarily bird dogs.
Thanks again,
Dennis

I have had several GSP and GWP, very nice hunting dogs with endless stamina. Here is Räkan (the Shrimp) with a moose shoot at bay
