Get a Toller, their howl will keep anyone at bay. Jason Z Alberts “If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you." – Samuel Adams

You don't say if you want to hunt with the dog as well, but if you do, I'd suggest either a Large Munsterlander, a VDD, a GWP, or a Chesapeake Bay Retreiver. JMHO, but any of those dogs will hunt, and some have more 'intimidation' factor than others... With any of them, they bond closely to 'family' and will protect family from outsiders. If you don't need a hunting dog, then an Australian Cattle Dog will propably do the trick for you. They tend to be a bit on the protective side. Cheers, Dave. Aut Inveniam Viam aut Faciam.

sambar 9.3 is on the right track chessies are great hunters and great family dogs and would gladly give their life to protect their families. The blue heeler (Australian stock dog) would be a great choice also extremely loyal and probably too smart for their own good.i had them growing up on a ranch in Montana. and now have a chessie and two springers.
