For you old pros out there, I need your best recommendations regarding training books for a flushing/retreiving bird dog. Thanks, Graybird "Make no mistake, it's not revenge he's after ... it's the reckoning."

Behavioural scientist Konrad Lorenz wrote an excellent book about dogs already in the 60s. I do not know if it is still available in English. Edit: Here is more details on this great scientist. The book "Man meets dog" is in fact not related to training any kind of hunting dog. However, it helped me a lot to understand and correct the sometimes anti-social behaviour of my Jagd terrier. Read it, it is also a nice piece of literature and then get a more detailed book on specific subjects you want to teach your dog.

Graybird, I have enjoyed very much using Dave Duffy's "Hunting Dog Know-How". It's pretty plain english, common sense advise on how to train a practical, useable hunting dog. If you're looking for 21st century Dali Lama new age training, look elsewhere.
