For you old pros out there, I need your best recommendations regarding training books for a flushing/retreiving bird dog.

Thanks,

Graybird

Behavioural scientist Konrad Lorenz wrote an excellent book about dogs already in the 60s. I do not know if it is still available in English.

Edit: Here is more details on this great scientist.

The book "Man meets dog" is in fact not related to training any kind of hunting dog. However, it helped me a lot to understand and correct the sometimes anti-social behaviour of my Jagd terrier.

Read it, it is also a nice piece of literature and then get a more detailed book on specific subjects you want to teach your dog.

Graybird,
I have enjoyed very much using Dave Duffy's "Hunting Dog Know-How". It's pretty plain english, common sense advise on how to train a practical, useable hunting dog. If you're looking for 21st century Dali Lama new age training, look elsewhere.
