My 17 month old GSP speared herself on a low branch while out for a run last Sunday. She needed seven stitches to patch up a puncture wound that was around 6cm deep and 3cm in diameter.
She is now recovering well, but is like a spring being slowly wound up as she usually gets two to three hours off leash walks every day.

I hunt grouse on steep mountain sides hear in Montana And I always worry about my dogs spearing themselves and thank god that hasn't happened yet. All my dogs have multiple battle scars but no major punctures yet. My dogs leap before they look so I bought chest protectors for them it gives me a little peace of mind. but it hasn't stopped them from acquiring other cuts and scrapes. I hope your pup makes a full recovery. good luck.

She doing fine, thanks for your concern. We have a check up today. My vet treats Lola like her own dog.I walk my vet's dog regularly, if she is overworked and look after him when she's away.
The wound looks to be healing nicely , with no signs of infection and my girls has a full appetite, so I know she's ok.She loves to run through long grass, but this happened in an open field with just a lone branch hanging down. The two dogs she was chasing ran under the same branch with no problem.Them's the breaks

Nice pic of your dog, Cool jumpingI'm not familiar with that breed.Kinda looks like a Weimerana, but the snout is too long and the ears too big

Is it against the law to dock tail's in Australia?

Now I know why Germans dock their GSP.

Not really,
Just not considered good form or practise.
I like my girl with her tail intact

Must be the season, one of ours did the same thing 2 days ago. Fortunately it isn't that deep but I'm keeping an eye on it and antibiotic ointment on it and it looks like it is closing up nicely.

for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside
