| quote: How do I complain to the AKC about a breeder? Answer: You will need to write a letter giving the details of the situation and copies of any documents you have. Please provide the full names, addresses, and phone numbers of everyone involved, including you. You will need to fax or mail that letter and copies of all related documents to:
American Kennel Club Case Management Dept. PO Box 37924 Raleigh, NC 27627-7924 Fax - 919-816-4250
We will review the situation, contact the breeder, and get back to you.
Please be sure to sign your letter of complaint.
When a breeder seeks AKC documents, they register the litter by providing documents that both mother and father of the pups are purebred animals. Once that has been verified, the AKC will then send an application back to the breeder for each individual member of the litter. The puppies' new owners would then fill out the application and return it to the AKC.
Use the number to call and see if the breeder is legitimate. There is a cut off date for AKC registration so get thee busy |

Since your friend purchased the puppy from the breeder I don't think you have a cause of action. If there was a contract and it specified that the animal was AKC your friend could send a notice to sue. Is the breeder in State? |

| Something wasnt legit about the breeders dog registration, I suspect the breeder got a notice back from akc stating such and he is not revealing all the fact or maybe he isnt the registered owner of the dog he is breeding. He doesnt have AKC papers for the litter. He should have had them when you got the puppy. He is lieing saying he should have them soon.
Anyway AKC is very strict I had a problem with a registration years ago with puppy papers and apparently the owner of the registered bitch never registered it in his name when it was a pup, so shit out of luck getting papers for any pups from that bitch even if it was registered when it was a pup. |

| My situation was slightly different from yours, but in my opinion the AKC is a dead end. Phone calls, faxes, letters, registered letters, all went nowhere for me. I ended up having to accept the fact that I had a damn good hunting dog and companion and I got over the rest. I widh you the best of luck. |

| Had a similar issue, I got the dog spayed and enjoyed her enthusiasm to retrieve. She did not know she was not papered.
I then bought a papered dog that did not turn out as advertised and would not hunt as well as the old dog. Oh well!!!! |

| You can get an ILP number for your dog and run it in AKC huntests. It will cost you $10. Go to the AKC web site and click on registrations, and look for a listing of ILP. Have fun with your dog, an ILP will only allow you to participate in the test and won't do anything for breeding purposes. 375win
After the first shot the rest are just noise
