Anyone ever hunt of these or own one? Looking for a new dog soon and was thinking of a Clumber

Good friend had one. Very nice dog and I think that's characteristic of the breed. She wasn't a hunter so I don't know how they would be but like most spaniels I suspect one would be fine if not a show-bred dog. One breed characteristic I did learn was that hip dysplasia is common, which could be a big problem. Her dog died young, too, at 5 or 6. Its a fairly small gene pool and that may lead to problems like flatcoats have, but that's just a guess. He really was a nice dog socially
