The majority of dogs we discuss on this forum are hunting dogs, and that's appropriate, I guess. But little dogs can make a giant impact on our lives, even if they don't point, flush or retrieve. Yesterday morning we lost out little long-hair Chihuahua, Paqo. He was only nine years old or so, a rescue dog, and we had him a few months shy of two years. I collected all our digital photos into a folder and wrote a short description of our time together--I'm going to copy and paste it below. I'd post a photo or two but since photobucket deleted all my pictures, I don't have any saved on a website that I can use to post on AR. Here's what I wrote--thanks, guys, for reading about a really amazing little dog: Dec. 21, 2017 Paqo, our little six pound, white, long-haired chihuahua, died this morning. Paqo was a rescue dog whose owner had passed away. Paqo was probably six or seven years old when we adopted him in February 2016. Paqo was a funny, loyal, highly intelligent little dog who brought great joy to our household. He stole the cats' food, slept on the back of the couch, barked whenever the doorbell rang--even on TV--and was loved by everyone who came in contact with him. His favorite sport was chasing and retrieving little plastic balls with tiny bells in them. Every time he heard one of the bells, no matter where in the house he was, he ran to the living room to play fetch. He would chase and bring back those little balls all day if someone would throw them for him. At night he slept with us in our bed, and every day was carried out to do his morning business, then came back to bed while we drank coffee and read the news. Paqo loved being around his "people." When we came home he could hear the garage door opener and would be waiting at the door into the kitchen, so happy to see us. Paqo had an enlarged heart, not uncommon for his breed, and although he was being treated with expert care, his condition declined and he died of congestive heart failure. Paqo was a good little boy. He will be missed with sadness, but also with the gratitude that we had him for the short time we did, for he changed our world as only a dog can do. Paqo will never be forgotten and always loved.
