It's been about a month but I'm still getting over it. I lost my old Weimaraner Thunder on Christmas day.

He was 15 years old - I had him for 12 of those years. I wrote a short article about him if anyone would like to read:

http://lancelarsonstudio.com/u...ibute-to-a-good-dog/

I have another Weimaraner named Mauser that's almost two years now. got him at four months. I'm convinced the he added an extra year to Thunder's life just by irritating him with his puppy antics. Thunder put him in his place quite often. It's still lonely around here for both of us ....

Thanks for reading,

Lance

Sorry for your loss. The two breeds that seem to have the most loyal humans are Labs and Weimeraners. I'd bet he was glad you had a second one around to take care of you now.

Lord knows we humans need looking after.

our thoughts and prayers go out to you. I'd rather kill people that I know and like than put a pet down. lose a little piece of my soul each time I do.

Looks like you really helped Thunder out a lot, and gave him a wonderful home. Love the new dog, but don't forget Thunder.

My sympathy for your loss. Tomorrow will be 3yrs. that I lost my Elroy, a Border Collie I rescued at 7yrs. old. He was 14. We got Bella at 6months of age, also a Border Collie, and she was about 2 when Elroy passed. I think she also added years to Elroy's life. Now Bella is 7. I still think ofElroy every day. It never gets easier losing them no matter how many times you go through it.

Thanks for your replies and to all that took the time to read this.
It's tough not havin' that old shadow followin' me everywhere.
You all know how that goes.
In time it's all good memories....

Lance: Thanks for being a good friend to Thunder; I've felt your pain myself. I'm thinking of you. God bless. Frank

Lance,

The only thing that makes me able to stand the loss of a good hunting dog and close friend is the following thought. If there is a heaven and I make it, all of my hunting dogs will be there waiting for me and we will spend eternity chasing ringnecks across the fields of heaven.
