Guys and Gals i am looking at trying to set up a Blood tracking trial/test, soley for dogs trained for deer work here in the UK at the moment i am only doing some research into this as to see how much work and cost it would take to set up as we don't hav anything like this as such in the UK that i can find info or help on or infact no official judges that i know of or in contact with just wondered how you boys across the water get involed in setting up such an event and how you assertain who is eligable to actually judge such an event which can give merits to the winners of official status any help or contacts would be appreciated to help try and make this happen, especialy if they reside in the UK as that may make it a little easier if and when the idea gets off the ground I hav also posted this in the european game hunting section, just felt the more coverage i give it the more chance i may hav of getting it made official Kind Regards Richard

Here's a Americanize's version of the German/Deutschlander bloodtrackining methods website, www.born-to-track.com I find it very strange that you have to ask this side of the pond even though you are neighbor's to Germany who are "knowned" to be the superior blood-tracking specialist/trainers. However, there is Kimmax Kennal on your little island perhap's they could be of help? www.kimmax.co.uk They are known to import and test Deutsch Drahthaar and hopefully they don't breed/interbreed there U.K.C German Wirehair with the Deutsch Drahthaar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way, What breed of dog do you own and what species of animals do you planned on bloodtracking? How many hour's after? uh?

Norseman unfortunately as we in the UK are that far behind when it comes to using tracking dogs to other countries it is hard to find any info or any club to sponsor such an event as any test/trial that is KC recognised, beeing that official means all dogs entered would hav to be pedigree's that at the moment is not my plan but more to get dogs used for deer and their handlers upto a better standard as so they really hav a better understanding of working with a dog so infuture another venture such as born to track may evolve quicker with already a good head of tracking dogs and handlers aready upto a standard as which can be called upon if and when required i myself hav used labs + springers in the past that were trained for the shooting and picking up field now i use a Black lab bitch called Sika she will be 2 years old start of august this year and already on 24 hour old training trails i got the OH to lay me a blood trail using as little blood as she dared she used a 500 ml washing up liquid bottle which had a mixture of fallow blood diluted with about 30% tap water just to help make the blood run better she layed a trail about 250-300 yards long using about 200-220 ml of blood a certain points she made a few extra drops so that i could see i was on the right track some i zoomed in on a couple of the blood spots that i could see there are 2 clips , i made a mistake and pressed the stop button so then carried on filming therefore 2 clips as you can see from the clips there is very little voice activity from myself just a few to steady sika up at the start, as i want sika to work it out by herself i myself was told of several key points along the trail but i was not present when the trail was laid so i had to trust sika aswell as look for signs myself the trail was laid around 7:30 am on bank holiday monday i set off on the trail at 7:40 am this morning being tuesday so the trail was 24 hours old points to look at on first clip is at 10 secs (starting point)i was shown this shortly after the trail was laid so i scrubbed it up a little to make sure of some decent scent to start off from 1 min 25secs (50-70 yards) we reached a fence and first real sign of any blood 3mins a marrow bone left on the trail, this was dropped there yesterday as the brother in-law took his dogs across the field and one of the dogs dropped it there as it picked up the blood scent and followed it for a while, so apart from the geese and brother in-law and his several dogs all going over the field there were also rabbits present and strong smell of fox 4 mins more blood to show we were on the right track It was a damp morning so that did help CLIP 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWsREbnH3qk Clip 2 this you will see towards the end of the trail sika is pulling very hard as she has air scented the skin that was left at the end of the trail so she had something to find http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8kJ9GpKID4 this i know is not perfect i know but she is coming on well and my aim is to track her of a leash under a controlled manor as if she was on a leash

In Norway I think the blood track must be at least 600 meters with four angles and two bloodless parts of at least ten meters one of them in one of the angles. Ca. 300 ml of blood is used for the track and the track must be from the previous day at least 12 hours old.
