Very nice puppies, my male is now 4.5 years, also rather large frame, rough hare. These terriers are wonderful hunting dogs and just incredible for their size. I use mine for ducks, blood trailing and the driven hunts. Season starts now in November, I can't wait!

If you were somwhere in Europe, I'd recommend that you get in touch with the Federation, on their homepage you find the different state clubs with their puppy offerings. Jagdterrier Club. Unfortunately not in English, just Teutonic language. Calculate that a ouppy costs around 400 to 500 €, depending on the bitch and sire's results in the corresponding trials. These are indicated, too, if the abbreviations are too "gothic", let me know. It also depends if you want a dog to hunt fox ad badger dens underground, to chase boars and stags on driven hunts, for blood trailing or as a rather universal "multi-purpose" compañion. Now, how to ship a 8 week puppy from here to Australia, I don't really know. Last year we got a dachshund for a buddy in Spain, he came here to pick her up and both flew back together to Madrid, owner and his little princess both in business class.

Richard, as I had to learn the hard way, there are dogs and there are jagdterriers; as a friend of mine says, too big a dog in too small a body. They are 100% dedicated, brave, eager, very good to have in a family and bright (for a dog). OTOH, sometimes, especially when released in the woods, they consider themselves as hand grenades with fur. You need a lot of consequence, time and also a certain toughness, these dogs never surrender, kind of Waffen SS of the canine world, so to speak... If you succeed, you are rewarded with a universal working dog for blood trailing, water fowl retrieving, driven hunts and fox hunting, all in a very small and easy to handle package. Like I said, you have to be the leader of the pack, if you do not assume this role, your terrier will.
