If you're so inclined, hoist one or a few in Becky's name.

She was a damned good dog. A springer, if you're interested.

I don't let the dogs sleep on the bed. So I took to sleeping on the sofa so she could sleep with me as I knew the time was near.

I slipped out from under her as she was slumbering, made coffee, went upstairs and checked my e-mail, and when I went back downstairs she was gone.

Damn. I guess all good things have to come to an end.

Now me & Romeo, my setter, have a big hole in our lives to fill.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Hate to see them go, even when we know the time has come.

Sorry to hear of your loss. It's never easy to lose them. I lost Elroy about 2 years ago and I still mourn him as if it was yesterday.

Thanks, guys.

No, it's never easy and we do hate to see them go.

That's how it should be, isn't it? It should be hard; we're not talking about plants.

They say you don't know what you have until it's gone. That's not true. There have been several times in my life when I knew exactly what I had while I still had it.

Becky was one of those things. It dawned on me a few months back when she was clearly on the decline that there wasn't enough I could do for her, considering all she's done for me. I can honestly say she never caused me a bit of trouble, and I wish she was still here to cause me some.

A lady, I hear, always knows when it's time to make her exit. She was a real lady.

I feel your loss.
Thankfully you have Romeo.

The more I think about it the more I realize I was lucky to have her for so long.

I don't want to be selfish and think only of the dog I've lost. She's just the one I've lost that I was most closely attatched to lately. I know Elroy and Kimba meant as much to you as Becky did to me.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I can't remember crying more when my "Bear" passed away several years ago. He was a good dog!

Springers can be special. I buried one and the other one is still with me. A little deaf, a bum leg and now gunshy, but still a close and loving friend. Sorry about your loss. There is absolutely nothing like the dark, knowing eyes of a Springer Spaniel.

I have had this worthless dog of mine for 17 years.
He has been with me when I lost my Dad, and my Mom 4 years later. He has been with me when my family broke up.
He listens to all my worries and complaints. He tries to comfort me when I'm down or sick.
This worthless dog is the closest friend I have ever had and I'm going to need some meds when he is gone.
Some times I think. God brought Man and Dog together because they needed each other.

Be well, I'm sorry for your loss.

I lost "Charlie" in 1975, and I miss him still. He was my best pal, and astounded me constantly with how close to human understanding he was.
