fixing to acquire a 7 rem mag rifle and was wondering what bullet weight stabilizes best in that caliber. its in a new rem 700. thanks

I shoot the original Nosler 162 SBs in mine, and my son's Ruger 77 Mark 1 does as well. They are both one hole rifles at 100 yards. I anticipate your new 700 will do equally well. I suspect Remington hasn't changed barrel twist...

Bullets in the 160gr range seem to be the magic number for the great 7mm Rem Mag. I shoot the Federal 160gr Accubond load in my Blaser. It does .35"...no need to handload for it.

thanks guys. thats what i needed to know. my two 30-06's like the 180 gr which i'm told the 30-06 was designed for. as for not reloading, go outside in the snow and whip ur whanger against a tree 100 times and yell " i didn't mean it" each time.

most "7 mags" have a 1-10 or a 1-9.5 twist-- 150 up to 168 grain bullets will work best.

I have a Ruger 77 Rem Mag. I use Barnes 160 gr
TSX. This gun shoots sub MOA. I use Rem Brass, Federal Primers ( 250 mag ) and R 15 powder.

My 7mm eats Berger 168VLDs best of all....

I've successfully used btips in 140 and 150 grain, 150 Sciroccos, 168 Berger VLDs, and multiple weights of Barnes.

In one of my 7s I settled on the 150 Btip and IMR4831. Another is using the 168 VLD with H1000.

I have a new Remington and re-barreled Savage and they LOVE 160 Partitions, but also shoot the 139 Hornadys extremely well. All around, though, I believe that the 160-class bullets were meant for the 7 mm mag.

i use the partitions in my 30-06's and .308's and wouldn't think about going to anything else (after years of trial and error) so that is good to know. i am a .30 cal man and this 7mm is new territory for me.

Curious, did you happen to try Re22 and 25?

mate like most of the recommendations go with the 160-170gn projectiles. I too have a 7mm Rem Mag in Remington 700 (Sendero). I use 162gn Amax projectiles with 58gn of ADI 2213SC (an Aussie powder). Bloody brilliant accuracy - anywhere from 0.1 to 0.5MOA at 100m.

My Sendero has a barrel twist of 1 in 9 1/4 as do most 7mm Rem Mags and they tend to prefer 160-170gn projectiles.
