This is my first day posting here. Thought I would invite people to come watch or shoot the match.

It is a fun match and a good way to test your gear and skill.

We always help new shooters and provide a free lunch.

We have a fun bunch of guys who enjoy friendly compation.

Come join us at the 4th annual Chosen Frozen New Years Day long range rifle match. Near Twin Falls Idaho

This year’s match will have target ranges from 30 yards to 1400 yards.

Shooters will be divided into 2 man teams with each team member taking equal turns as shooter & spotter. Each team will shoot the 4 courses of fire twice. Each team will need safety glasses, hearing protection, a spotting scope, range finder, 90 rounds ammo and 1 rifle for each shooter. Bring a partner or come alone and we will match you up with some one.

During the match the long range targets (600-1400 yards) will be engaged first with a generous time limit for the long distance shots. After the long range targets multiple targets from 30-500 yards must be engaged with the fastest time to hit all ten targets getting the best score. For the timed portion the spotter may also shoot along with the long range shooter. All targets must be hit before the clock stops.

Limited walking and no running is required to shoot this match. I set it up so old slow guys like me can still be completive with out risk of a heart attack. Teams must pack everything that they need to shoot the match with them during the match. No returning to your car or truck after the match starts. If you forget something you will have to do without or borrow it from your partner.

Scoring for long range targets (500-1400) First round hit = 10 points.

Second round hit = 5 points. Third round hit = 2 points.

The speed portion of the match will count for 25% of the total match score.

Entry fee 25.00 Active military or students $10.00

Limited to 24 shooters.

Safety meeting is at 7:30 AM @ the Garden of Eden Cafe, Hwy 84 & Hwy 30 & Hwy 25 junctions. After the safety meeting we will drive to the match sight. If you do not have a 4x4 have your gear ready and carpool with one of the match directors.

We should try to set up a match up here in Alaska like that!

I ran matches like that in Talkeetna during the late 1980's but only had a 670 yard max range.

I spend every December visiting with family in Southern Idaho. I got talked into setting up a sniper type match 5 years ago. Thought it was a one time thing. Now it has become an annual event.

I spend most of my time in Iliamna. I do have steel targets in Iliamna and could run a small match there if there is interest.

i thought you were talking about our lever gun silhouette match we hold on the first every year. [here in the deep south end of the idaho highlands]
it's the regular nra events.
and then.
it gets drug over to the 1,000 yd range in the afternoon.
but nobody gets to use no highpowered or scoped rifles just cast boolits and either single shots or leverguns.
bout the same scoring system though, and it's everyone for themselves.
no teams,no spotters.
and only one shot at the target.
still cold and still fun.

Sounds like a very fun shoot. Old lever guns ans single shots are cool.
