230 gr. out of 338 Ultra mag?
Is anybody shooting these? Are they to light for long range shooting?

Yes. I shoot those from 338 Rum and Lapua.
Long range? How long is long? We only have 600 yards.

I have two Lapuas and one Edge; I shoot 285 ELDs and 300 Bergers. For LR shooting, you can't beat the higher BC bullets.

I do prefer 225 to 250 grain bullets in my .338WM, which I use for hunting far more than the bigger 33s.

If I ever get around to chambering barrels for my 300RUM and another barrel for it in 338RUM, I will shoot 265 ABLRs and 215 Berger Hybrid Target bullets in the 300RUM.
I'm shooting what I have.

NOt sure about extreme range and long heavy bullets rule the roost, but Ive used the 230 gr. GS Customs BTHP monolithic bullets on plainsgame, back up on a buffalo, deer, elk, and a black bear and that is one deadly bullet, but have not shot beyond 300 yards but twice and those were 400 yard shots give or take 50, rested on broadside bull elk and it sure worked out yonder..I don't recall the need for a follow up shot on anything..My rifle was a 338 win magnum..I believe they would work on any 338..

I better add the 225 gr. Nosler Accbond for elk, its another favorite for me and Ive shot 3 or 4 elk and a bundle of Plainsgame with it..
