Hi, all! I'm looking for a compact HDV cam and would like opinions on the Canon HV10.

Good? Bad? Other recommendations?

Haven't use it myself, but I understand it is one of the best on the market.

We use the canon XL1 HD and love it.

For taking video of the kids, we use a Sony HC7.

I've ordered an HV10. It'll be my first video camera.

The only negatives I've heard about it is that the controls are rather small, it doesn't have an audio input jack and that the external mic picks up the camera's motor noise in a low noise environment.

But, even those who pointed out these shortcomings, gave the HV10 high ratings.

I just read that Canon has a new one replacing this one, so you might get a good price on it.
