I would like you guys to give some tips on what to do and what not to do when taking photos in the veld of a rifle or shotgun.

I think this type for a photo makes a nice different kind of trophy photo as you would not have been hunting if it was not for the shotgun, rifle or even a bow.

Here is one I took last year...

What ... give you tips, that's a really nice hunting pic!

It's a lot of the same skills that makes a good hunter or photographer, to really see what your looking at, being aware of the light and the environment and a lot of patience.

-Don't be afraid to zoom in too close, don't feel like you need to frame the entire firearm, trophy, etc.

-Watch for shadows (flashes, reflectors, etc. can help with this)

-Take LOTS of pictures & keep only the best

I'm far from an expert but FWIW.

Take plenty of pictures from a variety of angles and compositions as far as what's actually in the image (such as cartridge cases etc) and also what is in and out of the image.

Remember that if you have too much in the image, you can always crop it in photoshop but if you don't have enough in the image, you can't add a piece.

Also look out for shadows and unfortunate backgrounds etc and make a point of taking some with the flash and some without. Again, you can add or remove light and sharpen or otherwise with photoshop.

You can apply a lot of the rules you use on trophy photography for this subject and this might be of interest: http://www.shakariconnection.c...phy-photography.html

Here's a couple I took recently. They're not great but might be of interest.

I'd forgotten how much fun wingshooting is until recently and am itching to get back into it but my problem at the moment is finding time.

It's hard for me to commit to plans a long time ahead but am always interested in hearing about what's going on and will be there like a shot if I can escape from running the business etc.

I'm also trying to plan things so I can get down to Andrew's for a few days in August.

But you're right, we are looong overdue!
