DJI announced today the Mavic Pro Drone. A compact 1080p resolution 96 frame per second or 4K at 30 frames per second or 12-megapixel RAW camera drone. It folds up and is small enough to throw in a small backpack. It has a 27 minutes of flight time with a speed of 40 miles per hour and travel as far as 4.3 miles.

Lots of new flight modes and features.

This is a game changer for the traveler.

Hoping it gets here before my next trip over. They say Mid October, but I have been waiting on my Lily for 9 months so who knows.

Will keep you posted...

If it is anything like their Phantom 4, it will be fantastic.

Have been using the Phantom 4 for months, and love them.

Had two of them with us on Safari in Tanzania, and the videos are just fantastic.

The video quality is slightly less defined than the Phantom 4 due to a smaller 1/2.3 inch CMOS image sensor. From some of the early comparison tests with the Phantom 4, video quality was nearly the same. But interestingly the Mavic uses their latest OcuSync transmission technology which increases transmission range to 7 km.

Due to the compact size and capability the demand for the Mavic has been very strong. Unfortunately, shipping has been pushed until November.

Will also be interesting to see when the Phantom 5 is released. Hopefully in time for the Consumer Electronics Show in January.

Today was my ship date BUT INSTEAD I received this E-Mail!!! Roll Eyes

We have been shipping for nearly two weeks, but even with round-the-clock production, we unfortunately cannot give specific delivery estimates for many orders moving through various global sales channels because of this demand. For Mavic Pro orders received before November 3, 2016, we will do our best to clear them all within the next seven to eight weeks.

Understanding legal drone use in France is not easy:

After shooting some video with the Mavic vs the P4, I am really liking the Mavic camera better even though it has a smaller sensor and a narrower field of view (28mm lense). You also get a lot less prop shadow and virtually no prop interference with the Mavic as the props are smaller.

In regards to the RC, the Mavic is hands down better in many ways over the P4 controller. Much more informaiton available with the new display. In addition, OcuSync is a far more powerful transmission system than Lightbridge with virtually no interference and much greater range.

All in all I am not going to miss my P4. Will be interesting to see what the new P4 Pro looks like in comparison.
