My free trial subscriptions are about up now and I need to figure out which photo editing software works best. My use of the software will be to edit the pics downloaded (redeye removal, cropping, resizing, etc..) Nothing elaborate, not adding background, frames, or the like and therefore don't need any bells/whistles. I liked the OFOTONOW software, easy to use and organize. Dell Picture Studio was ok, though the red eye removal was not as good as OFOTO. PaintShop Pro had too many bells/whistles. So, what else is there that is recommended by you pros? I'm a firm believer in the KISS (keep it simple stupid)approach and therefore would appreciate those types of solutions.

Try XAT software. That is what I use for 90% of my simple photo editing. Easy to re-size, compess, change colour and resolution. I use it a lot to mark large high quality scans suitable for use on the net. Remove photo noise, add text, they also have a system of tracking your photos where they are subsequently used on the net. A useful feature allows a batch of scans all to be modified at the same time. Lots of other features. They also have a 30 day trial period on the downloads.
