As I learn to use the camera (IN SPITE OF THE SUPPLIED DIRECTIONS AND OTHER MANUALS FOUND ON THE WEB) I think I will try to write a decent users manual with useful tips and the best mounting information! I hope others that have this trail cam will participate. Plinker do you read that? Don't limit your challenges . . . Challenge your limits

That's really weird, i had those same thoughts, someone ought to re-write their manual in a more user friendly way. I'm getting nothing on mine but the same old 'coons, turkeys, squirrels, and antlerless deer Thinking about taking it down awhile, at least till the bucks start growing antlers and the fawns get born. Then it will be a lot more interesting. Plinker aim small, hit small

Plinker et al. I ambushed an intersection of trails that had hoofed animals on one and and soft footed animals on the other. The soft footed trail was worn smooth so I had to see what was going along it so much that it would wear a trail in the woods. After that night I have moved to another trail and have 4 more to "observe" before I get back for extended stay at the first one. The manual that came with mine was totally worthless. Obviously written by someone who had NEVER used the camera. I did find another site that had a slightly better manual but was POORLY written. the format left me underwhelmed also. Even though one had to print it on 8.5X11 inch paper the format was probably 4 by 6! I did learn to string together words in longer non functional sentences describing the ancestory of the manufacturer and manual writer than I had ever used before. That said there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on the proper installation of the camera. In spite of it all, if one uses CF cards pictures are easy to download and view! 128 MB CF cards are 30 bucks with 15 dollar rebate right now at "Best Buy". What that probably means is that the format has been replaced and they will not be available in the near future. Sometimes the fast moving technology of computers/computer accessories leads to bad things! Digital is the only way to go though because there is instant gratification when you load up the CF card and film costs would soon exceed the cost of camera and cards! I will solicit installation hints from users on many sites and write an operations manual and post it somewhere that has a "Trail Cam" forum on their board! Don't limit your challenges . . . TC, i was talking to the Leaf River rep about a different problem and the subject of the instruction manual came up. He said hey have a new manual and cd available. I think they charge like $5.00 handling. Also, it sounds like the camera with the screen is easier to program than the DC1 model. I never knew that, thought the only difference was ability to view the pictures in the field. Apparently the DC2 has easier to understand screen prompts. I moved my cam to a trail. Was getting too many pictures at the feeder and burning up batteries. The trail pictures are fewer, but look more natural. Plinker aim small, hit small

I set it out the other day for 3 days and omething cme by during the night . . . . I had accidently turned the flash off so I got black pictures for 3 days. During the day the stupid cows came by. Who told them to go on that trail through the woods. Great . . . . cow pictures. Reset everything and camera is out ethere nowe. Will abush a different trail next week!@ Yes if the programming was on screen it would be easier, but then the manual could be better written! Don't limit your challenges . . .
