Has any one tied this camera? Is it any good for taking game pictures at distance? What about close up shots? Would you take one on an african safari as a one and only camera. How have you found not having raw files? Regards MM

In a word, it is a poor camera. While the 83 times zoom is cool, the overall picture quality sucks. And since you cannot shoot in RAW, you have to work with what the Nikon processor and software gives you which is poor color balance, poor white balance, and at times, poor focus. While you can spend a lot of time "working" with the picture to correct many of its inherent problems, you cannot fix focus problems. I gave mine away because I would have felt guilty charging anyone for it. Nikon is diminished for putting their name on it. My last Nikon. ___________________ Just Remember, We ALL Told You So.

First - I have no experience with the P900 so ma not qualified to have a substantiated opinion, however, the questions are: what are your expectations? What level of precision in focus, clarity and definition do you want? To be used as an unmanned trail camera where the shutter is triggered by movement to fulfil the desire to record animal movement. In this regard the expectations of the camera are minimal. Other than unmanned photographs I have found the best use of digital cameras to be used for determining preliminary results so that the actual photograph may be taken using a film camera.
