Looking to buy a game cam.

Getting it mostly to get proof and evidence to prosecute trespassers and poachers, so it MUST have a "No Flash" option, and UV night pic option.

Any others besides Cuddeback and Leaf River offer these?

Can anyone tell me, from actual personal experience, about positives and negatives of these or other brands?

I was divided between the two. I ended up with Leaf River and that was a mistake. It is difficult to use. The instructions are terrible and the Cuddeback takes much better pictures.

Recon makes a IR game cam called the Recon Talon.

The only drawback to using these IR game cams is the LED IR illuminators only work out to 15-20 feet. That makes it tough to hide since it's almost on top the perps. Leaf River is coming out with an IR flash extender that has more illuminators but the drawback is it's a bigger red glow for the bad guys to see. No IR cam is 100% stealthy, they illuminators give off a faint red glow and if the bad guys are looking at it they will see it.

The local goobermints here buy a surveillance cam that is in a bullet proof housing and they mount it high up on telephone poles to stop the illegal dumping. Over a grand for one but they say it works.

I just tried to stash our Recon on the road going into our farm but I couldn't find a spot close enough to the road to get a plate number and not be obvious to where the bad guys would see it.

Thanks, spectr17, just the type of info I was looking for.

Anyone have anything else to add?
