Don't post much here, but I'm looking to drop some bank on a high end camera. The quality of digital video is far and above what I expected. I'm pretty well sick of the grainy effects of "video" vs "film" so are there any others who have tested these two? As an avid firearms enthusiast, I must say that we argue twist rates and calibers, but we got nuthin' on the photography folks! I'm leaning towards the Lumix GH1, but it seems ahead of it's time, but the quality is outstanding with the appropriate lenses... I'd like to get a GH1, but it's like a 505 Gibbs +... I gotta get a bigger press for the oversized expensive dies & brass, shoot more expensive bullets, but the payoff rocks! To put it this way, I'm excited about the idea of using high quality photo lenses for video, to the extent that I may consolidate my gun collection to take vids of leaves and every day stuff! Which reminds me... anyone interested in a Sig 220 Sport or Colt LWT Commander? In all honesty, it's addicting. I'm going to WY for an antelope hunt and I'd love to take some great photography and video. I feel more like Kurosawa than Bell or Taylor every day. It's the little things that are punctual, and I'd like to capture them (yeah in HD, I guess... sound like a 300 WSM fanboy, I know...) Anyway, I'm a nostalgic, but I'd like to take game with a vintage rifle, but take shots with new technology; out with the bolex, and in with the GH1 or T1i, ... or not?

I found the Lumix GH1 a bit TOO small. If your using a DSLR you are going to be carrying a load of stuff anyway so the size of the camera is less critical. If you want to shoot Video get a Video camera. All the stills cameras I've tried have some or other basic limitation that will mean you'll want a proper Video camera as well. Now I want the Leica M8 digital. I'm probably going to have to sell the girlfriend, don't know how she'll take that. "When doing battle, seek a quick victory."

If you're looking at a T1i, you might want to look at the new Canon 7D. A lot of good reviews on the Canon forums. I'm looking to get one as soon as the prices drop a little. Nashcat
