Who is shooting a lot of video and what software are you using to build your presentation?

I have been using Corel VideoStudio Pro X7 with good results. Simple to use and has far more capability than I have use for.

Another highly rated software is CyberLink PowerDirector 13 Deluxe, but have not tried it yet.

How much time are you willing to to put into learning the programs? Do you simply want to cut and paste clips and add music and titles and leave it be? Or get into color correction, exposure and some of the more advanced functions of an editing program?

Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premier Pro are two top choices for professional editing. I have both and use FCPX 95% of the time because it's the one I learned first. Premier Pro I use on a few clips for various reasons.

Any quality editors below this, I have no experience with other than iMovie and GoPro Studio, both of which are powerful for their price point. (GoPro studio only works with GoPro footage I have heard. It's also Free). iMovie is a lot like Final Cut Pro. Cheap and from what I see, pretty good for someone who doesn't want to learn a powerful complicated program

I chose FCPX and subscribed to lynda.com and took their complete course on Final Cut Pro. They have courses on Adobes stuff too.

I sort of wish I would have learned Premier Pro instead because the workflow through Adobe After Effects seems to be natural once you learn Premier Pro.

Why are you looking to upgrade if this has more than you need?

Just curious.

For what it is worth, I can't see FCPX or Adobe being a bad call, other than the fact that they are expensive.

If you are currently using Corel, it sounds like you are using a Windows machine. Nothing wrong with FCPX. It is actually quite good ... once you get your head wrapped around it. However, it requires a very expensive dongle: an Apple computer (or a Hackintosh). Adobe Premiere runs on both Windows and Macs. It is also quite good, and there are way more plug-ins written for it than any other editing software. However, the program is offered only via the "Creative Cloud" subscription model ... which you either love or hate. Two other powerful editing programs for the Windows platform are Sony Vegas and Edius (in addition to Avid ... but that may be over-kill for you). Try to get a learning or demo copy of whatever you think you may be interested in, or see if there are any YouTube videos of basic or introductory tutorials that might give you a better idea of how the various programs operate.

Wendell - Sorry wasn't looking to upgrade. I am happy with Corel. Was only interested in hearing what others are using.

Thanks for the feedback however.
