Anyone have any experience with this one? I am seriously considering buying one but it isn't cheap & I don't want to regret my purchase. I have read some good reviews on the web but wanted some first hand input. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. I assume you want to use that lense for work purposes. What kind of distortion are you going to see on the edges? I admit there are times when one can not back up far enough or it causes other problems but that sure is short. I guess I will have to look at reviews to fully realize that I am old school and that many new and wonderous things have happened in the intervening 15 years! With you it is the 10-22, with me it is the 100 Macro. By the way I took your advice and bought the XTi. Used it seriously for the first time last weekend (after owning it for a year) for the Music City Marathon. I learned two things, First that sometimes we luck out, secondly that unlike running out of film which was easy to prevent, in todays world the battery is the limiting factor. I got the shots I needed to capture plus 3 . . . three more before the battery shut the camera down, I had an extra uncharged uncharged battery right there in the backpack. The Canon manual says do not charge the battery until you are ready to use them, little did I know that a few shots (relatively speaking) and I would be ready to use it. You can bet that I will always leave home with two charged batteries in the future. One other thing I learned, unlike the Nikon D80 and Canon 40D or 20D, when you hit the format button it does it instantly with no intervening, "ARE YOU SURE" to cover ones stupidity? D80 requires 3 buttons to be held for 5 seconds to format the card and destroy everything on it. Don't limit your challenges . . . Challenge your limits | |||

I ALWAYS have three batteries charged up & ready when I am hauling my XTi around. I seldom use the LCD display & I really extend the battery charge by not useing the display much. The 10/22 is SUPPOSED to have hardly noticable distortion at the edges & be a tack sharp lens. I have the 28/135 ISM & the 75/300 ISM. This little gremlin in my head keeps trying to convence me that I NEED the 10/22 ISM to round things out. PS I shoot everything in the RAW format.
