Safe range for DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2?

Learning the ropes, first-time drone user. It seems to reach a pre-programmed range limit of around 1500 feet. No mobile phone (cell) coverage, just radio control. Open woodland similar to what I’ve seen in Saeed’s wonderful Tanzanian films. Is that limit realistic? Or can it be increased? Thanks in advance.

The Phantom control software has a nanny feature that keeps the height and range limited. This is to ensure you are not exceeding safety limits in cities and around airports. This can be modified to increase both. I've had my Mavic fly over 5,500 ft high and more than 3.5 miles in distance (not at the same time).

There are a bunch of YouTube videos on how best to set up the camera and flight controls for the DJI drones. The options are mind numbing but you will find what works best for you. I would also recommend that you purchase a set of filters for your camera if you plan on doing a lot of video work.

Happy flying.

Go to settings, and you will see 4 items you might wish to change.

BIGGINNER MODE
MAXIMUM ULTITUDE
MAXIMUM DISTANCE
INTELLIGENT FLIGHT MODE.

Max height you can fly above the point of take off is 500 meters.

Max distance is 8,000 meters.

Intelligent flight mode allows you to use sport mode.

In this mode you can go faster than in program or altitude mode - around 70-80 km/h.

One thing I noticed with the version 2 is that you really need to be in line of sight.

Any obstacle between you and the drone you will get a warning that remote connection is lost.

Used one today to deliver a beer to a friend the other side of the village!

We used a dropper you can buy on Amazon.

Very neat, and all his neighbors were out applauding the delivery clap

Life is too short my friend, so one has to make the best of it.

On numerous occasions, people keep asking my wife why I do not behave as my age - I am 68 now - because I hardly sit still!

I hope you enjoy these drone videos.

Please right click and download to your computer.

Delivering beer to a friend at the other end of the village by drone

We had two drones up, one doing the delivery, and one taking a video.

A few shots taken by drone. The clearing in the forest is where we were shooting clay pigeon

We just ordered 3 of each model!

Cannot wait to try them.

Had lots of fun yesterday videoing dog training hunting moose.

Did not actually see any moose in the forest, but had some great footage.

I will add some more photos to my report on the Photo Forum on Nprth of Sweden.
