Dear All,

I'm off to the selous in 3 weeks.

I plan to bring my Nikon D200 + 18-200mm lens.
What other lens could I need & what is the best case around to carry my camera stuff in whilst in camp & hunting?

I have a peli hard case for the plane

Thanks

John

You already have one of the best general purpose lenses.

If you wish to add a longer zoom lense, I recommend the Nikon 80-400mm VR lanse.

You can get any decent soft camera bag to carry with you in the truck.

Tamrac is a very good make, and they make several sizes that you might choose from.

If you are not taking a laptop with you, you might consider taking extra memory cards for your camera.

You do have the best general purpose lens already ... no need for another.

I found it useful to take a strobe.

Have found the LowePro Stealth D200 to be a wonderful case that provides lots of protection and has plenty of room. I put the extra hunting gear and ammo in it and tossed it into the truck in Tanzania. Worked out well.

Got it on eBay from this really good vendor:

What about wide angle?
If I ever make it back to Africa I'd want to have a good 28 or even better a 24mm with me.
And a few filters like a Circular polarizer, Graduated ND, a couple of Star filters, Tiffin enhancing filter and a Diffuser Eeker Yes a Diffuser for those misty morning shots.
